Whatever it is that you’re going through, you don’t have to do it alone.
I am a counselor and therapist in the Southlake, Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth) area who helps men and women overcome difficult times in their lives. Through the counseling relationship, I will help you find relief from the emotional pain you are experiencing. I will work with you to grow from those experiences, to gain insight from them and to move forward to live the life you want. I specialize in helping clients express, explore and heal what is holding them back from living fully.
Being unhappy for long periods of time is not a normal state of being. Unhappiness can manifest in many ways and it has a way of making itself known whether we like it or not. It could show up in your life as anxiety, feeling down, feeling numb, sadness, fatigue, over/undereating/obsession with exercise/food or weight, extra glasses of wine, over-shopping, procrastinating, codependency, thinking you know what’s best for others, blind ambition, constant chaos, staying busy, apathy, sleeping to much or insomnia, overdoing, enabling, pleasing behaviors, staying in miserable situations, physical and/or emotional affairs, complaining, but not changing, negative thinking, always rushing or being habitually late, acting against your integrity, beating up on yourself, constant drama, spending too much time in front of the television or online, physical symptoms, money issues, and/or strained relationships. These consequences just continue the cycle of misery and keep you wanting to hide from the world, feeling hopeless, discouraged and disgusted with yourself.
If any of this sounds like you, know that there is hope. No matter how you are feeling or how your unhappiness is manifesting, you can begin to get your life back. You are not permanently damaged or broken and you can turn yourself around at any moment. I believe it is your right to live the life you want, to find your peace and to achieve your dreams. In fact, not living fully is a disservice to not only yourself, but also to the people that love you and depend on you because if you aren’t happy, then your gifts and talents are blocked from your loved ones and the world. Let this be your call to begin to make a change. Let this be your commitment to heal so you can be of true service to yourself and others.
Whatever it is that is holding you back and keeping you from living fully – whether it is your feelings, your situation or a certain angst inside that you don’t understand or can’t control – you really can do something about it. I won’t promise that the process will be easy – it isn’t – but then again, nothing worthwhile ever is.
If you would like some support and guidance as you reclaim yourself, I would be honored and privileged to work with you.
Am I the right therapist/counselor for you?
I am a counselor in the Southlake (Dallas/Fort Worth) area who specializes in helping women with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationships and other important life issues. I have had my private counseling practice for 6 1/2 years. Before that I worked with Hospice and Palliative Care in Charlotte, North Carolina counseling parents, children, siblings and spouses heal and make meaning after experiencing terrible losses in their lives. You can read more about my background in my online bio.
I can help you come to terms with depression, anxiety, adjusting to a difficult or stressful change, and/or your general unhappiness or dissatisfaction with life. If you are grieving I suggest you visit my grief counseling-focused web site where I’ve written and posted several articles that you may find useful.
I see you as resilient with all of the internal resources needed for healing and wholeness. However, more often than not, painful life experiences such as emotional abuse and losses of loved ones cause blocks to those resources which leave one feeling lost, disconnected, hopeless and helpless. I help clients find their inner resources and assist them by providing a safe, healing, and compassionate environment that encourages insight and growth.
I see counseling as a collaborative process and together you and I will come up with strategies and solutions to help you safely work through your feelings and emotions. As your counselor, I’ll prepare you with the knowledge, tools and I will help you uncover insights you need so you can still live your life and work beyond the pain and the discomfort…so you can have the rich and fulfilling life you deserve.
Doing your personal growth work is not easy by any means, but you don’t have to go it alone anymore. I’ll be there to guide you through the difficult parts. I’ll help you find your strength and your self-confidence and as you begin to reclaim yourself because you don’t become a different person through counseling – you become more like yourself. You’ll let go of the thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve you as you add positive changes in your life.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions.
